About
Most business systems are built without accounting for the most important variable: people.
Not because the people are the problem. Because the system was never designed with them in mind.
I'm Clarissa White. I practice Operational Experience Design: finding the work a business is absorbing that nobody assigned, and redesigning things so the work fits the humans doing it.
Ten years backstage
I've run the backstage of small expert businesses for ten years: launches, funnels, delivery, the teams holding it all together.
Before that I spent a decade in the engineering and construction world, in building science and technical drawings. That is where I learned the difference between how something is designed on paper, and how it actually gets built with the realities of the situation at hand. It's the same problem I work on now.
I've carried it myself
I notice the work you're absorbing that nobody assigned you, because I've carried it myself.
Naming it precisely is the most important first step. The rest is redesigning things so the work fits the humans doing it.
As hands-on as you need
Advice is easy to hand over and heavy to carry out alone.
Depending on what you need, I'll hand you a focused, prioritized fix list you can run with, or we work through it together: I design the fix, show you how, and stay close while you put it in place. Either way, what you get is concrete enough to start on right away.
Also mine
Some problems are never technically broken, so they never get fixed. Those are my favourites. I founded Local Happenings, a community accessibility directory for Nova Scotia, because the information I needed as a new parent didn't exist, and I had the skills to build what was missing.
The free Snapshot shows you where your Invisible Workload hides. When you reply with your two words, I'll tell you what I see.
